The strategic navigation system, as developed by Aloys Gälweiler, is the conceptional reference frame for the strategic management and operational management of a business. (Aloys Gälweiler, 1922-1984, was one of the pioneers of corporate planning and strategic business management.) The strategic navigation system  shows the relationship between steering and pre-steering of those factors that are relevant for the continuous success of a business – thereby maintaining its viability. Operational management secures the business‘ liquidity and economic success, whilst strategic management creates the prerequisite in the form of current profit potentials and new/ future profit potentials.
