According to the strategic navigation system, success potential can be defined as the control variables for strategic management. According to Gälweiler they consist of „all those product and market specific requirements relevant for success, which have to exist prior to realising success“. Success potential is therefore a (strategic) control variable, which predetermines the (operational) success of an organisation. However, new/future success potential and current success potential have to be differentiated.
