System oriented management applies terms, ideas, findings and methods from the sciences of systems theory and cybernetics on problems of management. It captures management in its entire complexity and variety. System oriented management defines management as the formation, steering and development of purpose oriented social systems. In its centre are issues regarding the overall management of such complex systems within their complex environment. This way management is neither reduced to mere aspects of personnel management nor management based purely on economical aspects. System oriented management is therefore fundamentally different from the Anglo-Saxon concept of business administration
