Cybernetics is the science of design and steering of complex systems via information and communication. It goes into the matter of how systems master complexity, so that they can obtain their identity – in short: how complex systems can be kept „under control“ or can keep themselves „under control“. The fundamental idea of cybernetics is that there are general design and navigation principles that apply to all complex systems (e.g. Ashby’s Law). Cybernetics is one of the basic sciences of system oriented management.
