The mission statement of an enterprise is an expression of the normative management of corporate policy. It contains the basic intended objectives, values, norms and behaviour of an enterprise. These are generally valid but at the same time abstract ideals. The Mission statement articulates a guidance system, which all activities of the organisation must follow. It should help ensure that all areas of an enterprise focus on common, well-matched policies. The mission statement also serves for communication – internal as well as external.
